Ceramic Artist, Educator & Art Enthusiast

With over 30 years as a visual artist, my creative foundation began in painting and printmaking. Drawing, composition, and mark-making have always been central to my practice, and those disciplines continue to shape the way I approach every piece I create. It wasn't until I took my first ceramics class that I discovered a medium that brought all of those passions together.

Today, I create functional pottery that serves as a canvas for intricate sgraffito designs. The process allows me to merge my love of drawing, painting, and printmaking with the tactile nature of clay. By carving into the surface of leather-hard clay, I approach each form much as I would a sheet of paper—using line, texture, contrast, and composition to tell a visual story. Layers of glaze enhance the carved imagery, creating depth and movement while celebrating the handmade nature of each piece.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics with a concentration in Art Education, and my background as an educator has cultivated a deep appreciation for observation, craftsmanship, and visual storytelling. Working from my shared studio in Morganton, North Carolina, I create functional pottery that is designed to enrich everyday life while reflecting the beauty and wonder found in the natural world.
